FAQs - Infinite Runners

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions and Answers about Infinite Runners. If you have a question that is not covered then please send us an e-mail using our feedback page and we will respond in a timely manner.

Background

1.)

Q. How did Infinite Runners come about?
A. The idea was sparked in 2004 when I had to retrieve some of my old race results from a box I kept in a closet. At that time I thought there had to be an easier way to organize and record my running life and share it with my running friends and past teammates.

2.)

Q. How are Infinite Runners Rankings different then what is already available online?
A. Most online ranking systems have it setup so that the runner has to claim a posted race to be in their rankings. The problem is that most races are local in nature and not necessarily available online. What we decided to do was integrate a runner's profile, posted race results and our timeline feature to create a rankings system that is fun, visually attractive and useful. Any runner can now filter their rankings by such variables as distance, age group, gender, city, country, year and even what running store you frequent. We admit our system may not be as precise as the others but it is much more fun. Plus we have a strong feeling your friends may notify us if you dare post a faster time then actually raced.

Registration

1.)

Q. Do I need to register to be listed in your rankings?
A. Yes, it is the only way we can verify a race result posted by a runner.

2.)

Q. Does it cost anything to register?
A. No. Infinite Runners is a FREE site for all runners worldwide.

3.)

Q. Do I need to upload a photo of myself?
A. We strongly encourage it as it helps create a strong local running community. Ultimately it is your choice and respect that decision.

4.)

Q. Do I need to use my real name?
A. Yes, as we use that information to verify a race result if necessary. And it also helps create a strong sense of community online and off.

5.)

Q. Can I register if I am under 18 years of age?
A. Yes, we will only display your first name throughout the site and keep your last name private for security reasons.

6.)

Q. Why do you want to know what running store I frequent?
A. By identifying your local running store we feel it will help create a stronger local running community. It will also serve to benefit the store by having their store logo button appear on your profile.

7.)

Q. What is a unique Infinite Runners number?
A. It will be a small unique race number icon that will appear on your profile page once your registration is complete. It simply serves to better identify you just like an actual race number.

8.)

Q. Why do you want to know if I have qualified for the Boston Marathon?
A. Because we want to recognize that great achievement by acknowledging it on your " My Profile" page.

Simply repeat that process for every result you would like to post. If you do not find your race then you can click on the "Add Race Result" link on your "Profile" page. Results posted here should be races that no longer exist. Since "Races Posted" and "Personal Records" are connected, all you need to do is add race results and our system will display your Personal Records automatically.
